FAQ's

What kind of leather do you use?

All of our holster leather comes from Hermann Oak Leather in St.Louis, MO. It is 100% American full grain steer hide vegetable tanned using traditional old world tanning processes. We are proud to use American leather from American tanneries. When we say "Made in the USA" that is what we mean.

Can you make a holster for my gun?

In almost every circumstance... yes we can. You can see our list of firearms here, Gun List. There are certain models and attachments that we cannot accommodate.

How close will colors match?

We shoot our photography as closely and genuinely as possible to representing the actual color of the finished leather product.

That being said:

1. Pictures via the internet or any digital media cannot give you an exact representation.

2. Most importantly, you are dealing with a natural material. This is natural full grain leather and each piece accepts colors and dyes differently. No two pieces of leather will be exactly the same. That is the beautiful imperfection of character that is created when natural materials are used to hand make products. That is just the way it is.

What is full grain leather?

Full-grain leather is the strongest most durable part of the animal. It is just below the hair and the most natural leather available. It is much better than the "genuine leather" that some use, because it is not resurfaced manufactured leather. The grain is very tight and over time full-grain leather will look better and better and develop a patina from being used and handled.

Will the leather have any natural markings?

Common leather markings include: scars, wrinkles, shading variations, healed scratches, stretch marks, and insect bites. We use the highest grade vegetable tanned steer hide that limit these "imperfections" but there is no way to eliminate them completely. That is part of the "perfect imperfection" of character that comes from using natural full grain leather. If you are looking for “perfect” unmarked leather then you are looking for something that has been overly treated and not as true to the hide.

What is the Master Collection® Upgrade?

This is a very common question and we have a whole page dedicated to this topic. It can be see at the top of every page or right here. Master Collection® Upgrade

What is the Signature Collection™ Upgrade?

The Signature Collection™ allows you to personalize the colors of your holster. You select your interior and exterior color along with the thread color. Since this collection is personalized there are no returns accepted.

Do you mold to each specific 1911 model you list in your menu?

The short answer is no. It is impossible to mold for every variation of 1911 listed, including exact slide serrations and grip patterns. We list specific 1911 makers and models so we can get as many details as possible to ensure a proper fit. If we have your exact model as a mold we will mold with that model. If not, we will mold your holster with the absolute closest match to your specific model.

What if I don't see my firearm in the model selector?

Then you can contact us to ask if we can make a holster for your model. In many cases it is still possible to get a holster, but we cannot guarantee that we can make a holster for every model ever made.

Do you make holsters for revolver?

Yes absolutely! Just select the proper revolver model from the model selector. The only model holsters that are not made for revolvers are the Cruiser® models.

Can you make holsters for different length revolvers?

In most cases yes.

If your barrel length is shorter than the one listed in our model selector: Just select that model from the model selector and then in the notes of the order tell us your exact barrel length. We will adjust the pattern when we make your order.

If your barrel length is longer than the one listed in our model selector: You must call our office to discuss placing an order with us so we can determine if it is possible to accommodate your revolver.
